The WTT 15km record remained 21:36 for many years as set by visiting elite rider Edie Fisher back on 1992-Jun-02. This year, Jennifer Stephenson broke this record on each of her three WTT performances. Here is the all-time list of the 15km individual performances in the WTT series which were done at 40km/h or faster. Congratulations to Jennifer. She has ridden even faster in the OTT series this year. |

Mathematically speaking, the winner of this award was the woman who rode at least five WTT events in 2008 and had the minimum value for the standard deviation of the performance ratio (cube-speed ratio) of her speeds relative to her best speed in the 2008 WTT series. The ordered ranking of this years participants relative to this score can be seen by looking at this table or this graph. Note that our above simple definition of "consistent" is looking for consistency REGARDLESS of the weather conditions or time of year. Clearly we want to ensure that the rider getting this award didn't rank highly because of riding only on days with more similar conditions than other riders. Looking at the EvtFactor column in the table shows that Mary and Lisa rode under a range of conditions which was similar to most of the other contenders. |
There were many phenomenal improvements this year. With the varying weather conditions and large number of equipment upgrades, there could be considerable debate concerning who should get this award. In the end, appreciating that we just want to encourage increased participation and further improvement, we ignored the complications and merely calculated, for each rider who had done at least 5 WTT events in 2008, her performance ratio average for the cube speeds relative to her previous best cube speed in the 2008 WTT series. Anna Delaney came out on top via this measure. Erika Revesz was certainly a top contender for this award as well, but we hope that she has been awarded well in other ways for this series. |
Celia participated in all 15 of the pre-Invitational 2008 WTT events which were not cancelled. |

Shiree and Kari come to the WTT series from Mountain Biking, while Julia's background is with the triathlon. Julia had ridden one OTT in 2006, but is new to the WTT series. You may see how they did in their first year of participation in the WTT series by clicking here. |
Without volunteers, both WTT participants and people who do not ride in the series, we could not run the WTT events.
Thanks to all volunteers!
We have some awards for the non-participant volunteers who frequently helped:
Don Wilson (every event), Jim Glover (almost every event), Jackie Madill, Jackie MacDonald, John Cooper and Andre Marier.
